Spencer Board of Selectmen approves $950,000 grant application for downtown revitalization. The board on March 30 unanimously supported submission of a Community Development Block Grant application seeking federal funding that could support demolition of 15 Wall Street and a planning study to update the town's Slum and Blight District, with an April 21 deadline. The board also unanimously rejected a National Grid proposal to install utility poles on Charlton Road tied to an unapproved solar project after residents raised transparency concerns.
In ballot measures for May 12, the board placed two Proposition 2.5 overrides totaling $632,835: $368,390 for four firefighters and $264,445 for Spencer-East Brookfield Regional School District operating expenses.
