Spencer Economic Development Committee unanimously elects Jared Grigg chair and Jeff Sauvageau vice chair in its initial meeting since reconstitution. With all eight members voting 8-0 for both elections, the committee outlined ambitious priorities including zoning reform, downtown beautification timed to upcoming Route 9 road work, and strategic business recruitment. Selectman Jonathan Viner advocated for rezoning underused properties to attract industrial and manufacturing uses, citing proximity to railroads and the Massachusetts Turnpike.
The committee will identify underused properties, compile a list of 30 local businesses to engage, and work to streamline the permitting process for new enterprises.
