Spencer Selectmen Vote to Classify EMTs Under Group 1 Retirement

Board of Selectmen · Meeting of April 13, 2026

Spencer Board of Selectmen approves Main and Ash Street change order and EMT retirement classification. The Board voted 3-2 to approve a 10,000 dollar change order from B.R. Bak Enterprises for additional asphalt costs on the Main and Ash Street paving project.

In a unanimous vote, the Board classified newly hired Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics under Group 1 retirement benefits. Town Administrator Jeff Bridges cited the Board's concern about financial uncertainty and noted the decision to reevaluate after receiving the town's first Worcester Regional Retirement assessment. The Board also approved multiple infrastructure and service agreements, including a three-year landfill monitoring contract (40,400 dollars in the first year) and fiber network installation services.
